I had the pleasure of visiting the newly opened coffee shop at the recently renovated Higgins’ Lounge in Culfadda, Sligo today, and it’s such a fantastic addition to the area.
The bar has been beautifully renovated and reopened with a fresh, ultra-modern look, but what really stood out to me was how thoughtfully it still acknowledges its past. There are subtle nods to the history of the building, giving it a lovely sense of character and continuity despite the sleek new design.
The space feels bright, welcoming, and stylish — the kind of place you could happily settle into for a quiet coffee or a catch-up with friends. I had a plain scone, which was fresh and delicious, along with a perfectly made cappuccino using Krew Coffee. The coffee was excellent, smooth, rich, and clearly made with care.
It’s wonderful to see such a well-known local spot given
a new lease of life while still respecting its roots. I’ll definitely be back, and I’d highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area.
Open weekends from 11am–6pm.
